Register now for ‘Summertime Game and Fish Night Hikes’ | Environment
Registrations are now being accepted by the Arizona Game and Fish Department for a series of free Saturday nighttime nature walks starting at the end of June.
The five hikes will be about specific topics and are as follows:
- June 29 - Night adaptations
- July 6 – Owls
- July 20 - Reptiles and amphibians
- July 27 – Bats
- August 3 - Insects and scorpions
Each walk will begin at 7:30 p.m., at the Game and Fish regional office (555 N. Greasewood Road.); the exception will be the bat walk which will leave at 6 p.m. from the Agua Caliente Park.
Proper hiking attire should be worn, as walking portions may include steep rocky areas. Flashlights or headlamps, black lights, field guides, binoculars and water are all suggested. Some walks may require participants to have transportation to Feliz Paseos Park, 1600 W. Camino de Oeste, from the Game and Fish office.
The purpose of these events is to introduce the public to night animals that can be encountered in the Sonoran Desert.
Please no children under the age of 5 for walks, and no children under 10 for bat program.
Call Game and Fish at (520) 628-5376 to register.
