All you need to know about the 2013 Pima County Fair | Events
Planning on attending the Pima County Fair this year? The fair folks have compiled a list of helpful hints on the fair. Check it out then make your plans. The Pima County Fair runs from now to April 28.
WHERE: Pima County Fairgrounds; (11300 S. Houghton Rd., Tucson 85747) Located on Houghton Rd., one mile South of I-10 at exit 275
COST: $8 (adults 11 years and older); $3 (6- 10 years); Free (5 and under); Parking: $5
Gates open: 1 p.m. Monday – Friday; 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday
Midway open: 3 p.m., Monday – Friday; 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday
Cell Phone App: Download the Pima County Fair App for carnival, entertainment and vendor information! Using your Smartphone, scan the QR Code in the fair program. Service may not be available to all users or providers.
Parking: The parking lots have signs in the rows of parking to help you remember where you parked and are included on the map. Shuttle transportation is available in the parking lots 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. on weekends. Look for the tented shuttle pick up and drop off locations located outside the main gate and in the parking lots to await transportation to and from your vehicle. Locked out of your car? Visit guest services for further assistance.
Cell Phone Drop off and Pick Up Area: Getting dropped off at the fair? Enter the Pima County Fair main parking gate on Houghton Rd. (Gate A) and walk to the shuttle area located nearby for transportation to and from the Pima County Fair Main Entrance. Shuttle transportation is available in the parking lots 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. on weekends.
Carnival: Remember that the rides start at 3 p.m. Monday – Friday and at 11 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Arrive to the fair before the rides open and visit the vendors, exhibits, animal barns and enjoy the fabulous fair food! Remember to use your weekday discount ride coupons Monday – Friday!
Don’t care to stand in line? Wednesday, Thursdays and weekends of the fair are highly attended for the Wristband Day promotions and concerts. Upgrade your ride purchase by $20 to a FAST PASS on these days and get into the FAST PASS carnival ride lane for faster fun! If you are at the fair to enjoy all that the fair has to offer but don’t care for carnival rides, consider attending on a Friday or Monday to avoid the crowds. Use your Fry’s weekday discount coupons on any weekday but Wednesday or Thursday and spend less time in line and more time on fun! Avoid peak traffic time and lines by planning to arrive at the fair by 2 p.m.
Visiting the early morning 4-H, Equestrian Events and Livestock Activities? Brekke Gate will be open at 9 a.m. for early admission.
On a budget? Kids can read books and earn free carnival rides! Visit Pimacountyfair.com or Guest Services for more information, some restrictions apply.
For gigantic savings, visit the fair these days:
- April 22: $2 Parking and $2 Admission.
- April 23: $2 rides and $2 menu items from participating vendors
- April 24: $2 food and drink menu items 4 p.m. – 6 p.m
- April 28: Free admission until noon with 2 cans of food to benefit the Vail Food Pantry
Visit the Sunset Cantina Bar and Grill everyday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for Happy Hour specials!
Is your favorite band playing at the fair? Are you a SUPERFAN? Follow the fair on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for meet and greet opportunities and other contests! They will are giving away two meet and greet winner passes for each concert.
Visiting with little ones?: The Pima County Fair offers strollers and wagons to rent during your stay. The rental area is conveniently located next to the Pima County Fair Guest Services and can be found directly inside the Main Gate.
Kiddie Land Carnival is located near the main entrance with rides suited for our littlest visitors!
Kiddie Kingdom in Pima Hall built especially for our young royal visitors! Step into our kingdom and experience fairies, dragons and imaginations stations! A must see for families with small children 8 years and under! Presented by the Journal Broadcast Group.
Pima Hall provides a Mother’s Convenience Area which includes comfortable furniture, a crawl and climb area, nap space, tables and baby wipes for changing. There is also a curtained section for mothers who wish to breastfeed or change their little one in private.
The Interactive Science and Agriculture Activity Centers are located in Old Pueblo Hall. These exhibits are designed for hands on fun for kids 10 and under.
The Petting Zoo is always a favorite and located directly across from the red animal barn
The Great American Pony Trail Ride is located in the Corona Plaza
Lost Kids: Parents can report to the Guest Services or Security Buildings, both located near the Main Entrance. Help can also be found in the Fair Administration office which is located across from the Wild About Monkey’s show. In all cases, ask anyone with a radio or golf cart for help! Children who claim to be or appear to be lost will be taken to guest services where our child specialist will keep them safe and happy until they are reunited with their parents/guardians.

Want to relax for a bit? Visit the newly designed Sunset Cantina Bar and Grill with a restaurant, patio or indoor seating, western décor, ambiance and an affordable menu! Kids welcome when accompanied by an adult. Happy Hour every day of the fair 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with drink and food specials!
Need to leave but want to return later? Get a hand stamp on your way out!
Locked out of your car: Visit Guest Services and they will see what they can do to help!
Need a ride home? : Visit Guest Services and they will call you a cab!
CONCERT SCHEDULE for 2013 Pima County Fair
- April 24: Tesla; 8 p.m.
- April 25: Tyga; 8 p.m.
- April 26: Hollywood Undead; 8 p.m.
- April 27: Easton Corbin; 8 p.m.
- April 28: Larry Hernandez; 7 p.m.
The above concerts are on the Main Stage and all are included with fair admission. Concerts are festival seating with bleachers available on a first come first served basis. Lawn chairs are not allowed into the concert area. A limited number of upgraded VIP seats are available on first come, first served basis. *Audio or video taping of performances is prohibited. In some instances, flash cameras will not be allowed.
