'Dispose-a-med' event from Pima County Sheriff's Department | Events
Do you have a surplus of unused medicine and wonder what to do with it? Did you miss the last dispose-a-med event? Well don't worry the Pima County Sheriff's Department is holding another one this weekend.
Many people flush their unused or old medications down the toilet, or worse yet simply throw them in the trash, neither of these is a good idea. One contaminates ground water and the other runs the risk of someone finding the medicine and the bottle and all sorts of problems can occur.
The Walgreens at 13542 E. Colossal Cave Road, Vail will be the next event location. Officers from the Sheriff's Department will be there from 8 a.m. to noon.
They will be accepting prescription and over-the-coutner tables, capsules, liquids and creams. Among the items not accepted will be metal or glass inhalation aerosol bottle, syringes and epi-pens. For those who turn in medicines they have to remember that once turned over to the Sheriff's Department, medicine cannot be returned, for safety and confidentiality issues.
Commercial organizations will also not be able to turn unsued medicines over for disposal.
This service is free and no questions are asked. The Pima County Sheriff's Department hopes to see you and your unused/old medicines there.
