The Union Pacific Railroad is closing Rita Road on June 24.

Starting at 7 a.m. UPRR is closing Rita Road to travel, to allow crews to begin railroad track improvements at the ‘at-grade’ crossing located between Old Vail Road and I-10. 

This will be a complete closure and will be in place from

O’Leary Construction will be closing down a portion of road in a residential area for utility work, beginning next week.

Rex Street from Craycroft Road to Burcham Ave. will be closed from June 26 to July 28 for road and utility work in relation to a new Pilot Travel Center.  The road will remain closed during the full four weeks. 

Drivers are advised to find an alternate route while work is being conducted.  Detour signs will be in place and work may be stopped if there is inclement weather.

When the community was asked to identify priorities to take to voters in a potential November 2014 Pima County bond election, the result was approximately $1.3 billion worth of projects.

A future bond election will have capacity for about half that.

With its work cut out to bring those numbers into
