PCSD congratulates graduates and reminds about underage drinking

With the University of Arizona graduating last week and Pima Community College graduating this week and countless high school seniors getting their diplomas over the next couple of weeks - there will be a lot of parties going on to celebrate and the possibility of underage drinking.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department is extending their congrats to the graduates, but would also like to remind students and their parents that underage drinking is a 'curable' act.

Due to the high risk of wildfire across Arizona, State Forester Scott Hunt today announced that the Forestry Division will be expanding fire restrictions to include State lands in all 15 counties.  Earlier this month, State lands in six southeastern counties were placed under restrictions.

Congratulations, Calvin Baker! Congratulations to Superintendent Calvin Baker, recipient of the 2012 Crystal Apple Lifetime Achievement Award. The awards, organized by the Metropolitan Education Commission, recognize those who improve academics and promote graduation from high school. UA Steele gets donation from Rincon Chapter of OIG

After a successful fundraising night last month, at the Forty Niner Country Club, the Rincon Chapter of the Optimist International Group (OIG) makes their donation to local pediatric cancer research program.

UA Steele Children's Research Center was the proud recipient of $1,500 from OIG after their 'Casino Night and Silent Auction' that was part of the OIG's annual Childhood Cancer Campaign.
