ADOT plans to improve I-10 from Valencia to Rita Road

Starting this weekend the Arizona Department of Transportation will be making improvements along I-10 from Valencia to Rita Road.

ADOT crews will be removing the top layer of existing pavement, repairing the concrete beneath it and then applying a new smoother driving surface made with rubberized asphalt.  All of this is in addition to installing new road markings and reconstructing guardrails along this four and a half mile stretch of the interstate.

Repaving and repair work will also include all on and off ramps along this same stretch, as well as the roads directly beneath the interchanges between Valencia and Rita Road.  This means the ramps at Wilmot, Craycroft, and Kolb exits will soon be getting new pavement.

Work is scheduled to start August 19, with future traffic alerts on planned lane closures and restrictions.  To help minimize the impact on commutes and traffic delays, crews will be scheduled to work from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday nights through Thursday nights.  ADOT anticipates this repaving to be complete by the end of the year.

Crews will not be working on days surrounding major holidays, like the upcoming Labor Day weekend (August 31 – September 3).
