Road work alert for drivers - I-10 in second week of repaving project | News

Today marks the second week of road work to repair and repave a section of I-10 between Rita Road and Valencia Road. Repaving work began Sunday evening at 7 p.m. and finished early this morning by 7 a.m., to help traffic flow during the morning commute.
Crews working in the area will be closing one lane and the exit and entrance ramps at Rita and Valencia while repaving is going on. Work is scheduled from September 16 to September 21. The following is the repaving closures schedule:
- September 17 - The right lane on eastbound I-10 will be closed from Craycroft Road to Kolb Road; the eastbound I-10 entrance ramp at Wilmot Road will be closed.
- September 18 - The right lane on westbound I-10 will be closed from Wilmot Rod to Rita Road; the eastbound I-10 entrance ramp at Kolb Road will be closed.
- September 19 - The right lane on westbound I-10 will be closed from Rita Road to Kolb Road; the westbound I-10 exit ramp at Kolb Road will be closed.
- September 20 - The right lane on westbound I-10 will be closed from Rita Road to Wilmot Road; the westbound I-10 entrance ramp at Kolb Road will be closed.
While the ramps are closed, drivers are able to use the eastbound and westbound entrance and exit ramps at the adjacent intersections. There will be message boards and signs to guide drivers through the area.
Work on this $3.4 million ADOT project will include – removing top layer of pavement, repairing concrete below, and then repaving the existing roadway with rubberized asphalt, as well as remarking the road and reconstructing guardrails along that stretch of I-10.
