Saguaro National Park East to re-route section of Carrillo Trail

Saguaro National Park East (the Rincon Mountain District) will soon be re-routing a section of Carrillo Trail. 

The plan is to move a 0.9 mile section of the trail 0.4 miles(approximately) east of its present location, to an area that is flatter and where it will be easier to maintain.

America's Great Outdoors: study shows local economy and jobs benefit from National Parks

In a study conducted by the National Parks Service local economies and jobs benefit greatly from having a National Park in their area.  The study showed that from 2009 to 2010 there was an increase of $689 million to the economy and over 11,500 jobs, by visitors to the National Parks across the United States. 

This good news comes ahead of a White House Conference on Conservation, hosted by the Department of the Interior. The conference will spotlight conservation efforts that are community driven, as part of the President's America's Great Outdoors initiative.
